Updated August 6, 2026: Several waterfront events remain on the August calendar in Bremerton and Port Orchard. The confirmed options include Taste of Kitsap, Saturday farmers markets, Concerts by the Bay, and the August Port Orchard Night Market. If you plan to arrive by boat, reserve moorage directly with the marina and ask about current pedestrian routes. The Port has reported a temporary closure and onshore detour along part of the Port Orchard boardwalk.
This roundup is for itinerary planning, not navigation guidance. Event listings do not confirm dock space, shore access, or suitable conditions for your vessel and crew.
Quick August waterfront calendar
- August 7–8: Taste of Kitsap at the Bremerton Boardwalk Waterfront
- August 8, 15, 22 and 29: Port Orchard Farmers Market on the Port Orchard waterfront
- August 13, 20 and 27: Concerts by the Bay at Port Orchard Marina Park
- August 22: Port Orchard Night Market near Sidney Parkway and Bay Street
All dates above were checked against current organizer or Port of Bremerton pages on August 6, 2026. Event details and waterfront access can still change.
Taste of Kitsap: August 7 and 8 in Bremerton
Taste of Kitsap is scheduled for Friday, August 7, from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, August 8, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Bremerton Boardwalk. The organizer lists free entry, food vendors, maker booths and live entertainment. Its site also promotes tasting portions priced at $8, but individual vendor offerings may vary.
For boaters, Bremerton Marina is the closest Port-operated guest-moorage option. The marina serves overnight visitors and day-use boaters, but the Port asks visitors to make reservations in advance. Do not treat the festival listing as evidence that a slip or side-tie will be available.
Contact Bremerton Marina at 360-373-1035 or moorage@portofbremerton.org. The posted office schedule is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, with Sunday and Monday closures. Confirm staffing, rates, slip dimensions and event-weekend arrangements directly with the marina.
If you are coming without a boat, the Bremerton waterfront is also served by Washington State Ferries and Kitsap Transit. Check the agencies’ current schedules and service alerts before building a return trip around an event ending at 9 p.m.
Port Orchard Farmers Market: four Saturdays remain
The Port Orchard Farmers Market lists Saturday markets from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. through October 31. The remaining August dates are August 8, 15, 22 and 29. The market gives its waterfront address as 933 Bay Street.
August 8 is also listed as Farmers Market Week on the organizer’s 2026 event schedule. No visitor admission price is posted on the market’s main page.
There is an important access note. A Port of Bremerton report published in summer 2026 says the Port Orchard boardwalk was temporarily closed because of safety concerns. It says an onshore shoreline reroute was established for pedestrians. The market continues to advertise its waterfront location, but neither source establishes that every usual walkway, marina gate or approach will be open on a particular Saturday.
Before arriving by boat, ask Port Orchard Marina how the current detour affects movement between your assigned slip and Bay Street. People using mobility devices or moving carts, strollers or event purchases should also confirm the current route with the market or Port.
Concerts by the Bay: August 13, 20 and 27
The Port calendar lists Concerts by the Bay at Port Orchard Marina Park from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on August 13, 20 and 27. Fathoms O’ Fun describes the program as a weekly summer concert series, while the Port calendar identifies these remaining dates and times.
The event is listed as free by the Port. A free shore event does not mean that moorage, parking or other marina services are free. The currently published organizer page does not provide a complete dated August performer lineup, so check it again before heading out for a particular band.
An evening finish also changes the planning question for boaters. Sunset, visibility, marine traffic, wind and crew readiness may differ from the conditions you encountered on arrival. Decide on your return plan using current forecasts and information appropriate to your own vessel rather than the concert’s end time alone.
Port Orchard Night Market: August 22
The Port Orchard Night Market is confirmed for Saturday, August 22, from 6 to 10 p.m. The organizer places it on the downtown waterfront near Sidney Parkway, between Sidney Avenue and Bay Street. It says the parking lot behind Josephine’s Mercantile closes to the public in the early afternoon for vendor setup.
The Port calendar describes the event as a market with local makers, food vendors and live entertainment. August 22 is also a regular farmers market day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., creating two separate waterfront events on the same date.
That combination may increase demand for parking, pedestrian space and guest moorage, although no official source reviewed for this article predicts attendance or confirms dock capacity. Reserve directly with Port Orchard Marina rather than assuming you can arrive and find a berth.
Moorage and access planning
Port Orchard Marina welcomes day-use and overnight visitors and asks boaters to reserve in advance. Its posted office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. The Port lists the marina at 707 Sidney Parkway and provides the following contacts:
- Port Orchard Marina: 360-876-5535
- Email: moorage@portofbremerton.org
- Marina radio: VHF channel 66A for line-handling coordination after calling ahead
VHF means very high frequency marine radio. Channel information here is only the Port’s published marina contact channel, not general radio-use guidance.
The marina page lists a fuel dock, visitor moorage, parking and other facilities. However, the Port has not posted event-specific availability for the dates in this roundup. Ask about reservations, fees, vessel limits, arrival instructions, the boardwalk detour and any temporary closures.
Before leaving the dock
Use these as starting points for your plan:
- Check the National Weather Service Seattle marine forecast for Puget Sound and Hood Canal.
- Review NOAA tide and water-level information for the Bremerton station in Sinclair Inlet.
- Check current notices, charts and navigation information relevant to your route.
- Confirm guest-moorage availability and marina access directly with the Port.
- Leave enough flexibility for changing conditions and event-related congestion.
- If using a ferry or bus for one direction of the trip, verify the final departure and current service alerts.
These events are shore activities near marinas, not sailing instruction or an assessment of on-water conditions. Your departure and return decisions need to account for your vessel, crew, route and current official information.
View the official event and marina pages, then confirm current hours, availability, rules, weather, tides, pedestrian routes and on-the-water conditions with the appropriate official source before you go.
